Sustainability

At Kensington Flowers we are always searching for a more ‘green’ way of doing things.

Below are some of the steps we have taken to reduce the amount of plastic, waste and emissions our shop creates.

We are always looking for ways to be better, so if you have any suggestions for how we can improve, or you are a business that offers a more sustainable solution to floristry, please get in touch with us, we’d love to hear from you!

Green Wrapping

At Kf we like to keep our presentation simple and plastic free. We tie our arrangements with natural seagrass twine or a hessian sash knot and dress them in white Kraft paper wrapping that is recyclable, compostable & biodegradable. For aqua packed bouquets (to help keep the flowers hydrated), we use either a biodegradable film or plant-based Eco-Wraps that are foam-free and compostable.

Shop Waste

We try our best to stick to the three Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle – by reducing our use of single use plastic and harmful cleaning products, returning all boxes and flower packaging to the flower market to be reused, and recycling all of the shop’s waste. With the help of First Mile, we are able to compost all of our green waste too!

Deliveries

For local postcodes we deliver by foot whenever possible or use our little ‘Nemo’ green van that runs on a low carbon fuel. For deliveries further afield, we work with courier partners who use more ‘environmentally friendly’ vehicles that comply with new London road user regulations.

Our products

As a team we are open to learning and implementing new techniques to reduce the use of floral foam in our floristry. We hardly ever use it, and if we do, we invest in a biodegradable product. We encourage the use of vase arrangements and have our own stash we regularly reuse and lend out for all of our floral decoration services. When we partner with other businesses we always ensure their products and ethos complement our own.
